Astrophotography Gallery
A collection of my more successful attempts at astrophotography. All images taken at or around Caradon Observatory on the edge of Bodmin Moor, under dark Cornish skies. All images shot by myself except 'Flame & Horsehead Nebulae', a collaboration with Wayne Thomas.
I'm primary a widefield imager, using camera lenses to capture targets, although I have occasionally had the chance to experiment with telescopes. My photographs show what is possible on a budget, I use a simple tracking mount and a variety of cheap and vintage lenses. A selection of astrophotography and more general astronomy articles can be found on my blog along with more general witterings.
For anyone looking to get started with astrophotography I've written a quick guide to shooting the Milky Way with an entry-level DSLR and kit lens, and a guide to suitable budget lenses.
